Keqiao Talent: 3rd·Young PhD Talent Acceleration Camp 2026 For Overseas Doctorates Successfully Held
On April 24th, the Keqiao Talent:·Young PhD Talent Acceleration Camp 2026 was successfully held in Keqiao.
The event focused on key fields such as composite materials, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, and agricultural technology. Overseas young PhDs and professors such as from Zhejiang University, Ningbo University, the University of Nottingham Ningbo, the University of South Africa (UNISA), and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, participated in innovative project exhibitions.
A distinguished judging panel, including national-talent expert Prof. Jean Guy, Dr. Khaled Zahouily, and distinguished professor Prof. Saeid Pirasteh, conducted on-site evaluations of the participating projects.
Award Announcement
We are pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s PhD Camp awards:
Honor Award:
Dr. Shareen Shafique – Graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University, currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ningbo University. Her extensive experience spans nano/microelectronics, optoelectronic devices, and new energy materials—particularly in device fabrication, semiconductor materials, and advanced characterization techniques—making her well-suited to contribute to both research and teaching.
Runners-Up:
Prof. Sohail Yasin – Graduated from the Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and the University of Lille (France); currently an associate professor at Zhejiang University. His research focuses on materials and polymeric waste, sustainable plastics, nanocomposites, and LCA simulations for various industrial applications.
Prof. Linda Zikhona Linganiso – Graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand; currently a professor at the Institute for Catalysis & Energy Solutions (ICES), University of South Africa. Her expertise includes heterogeneous catalysis, material chemistry with an emphasis on composite materials developed from recycled petroleum-based plastic and agro-waste to induce biodegradation, and renewable energy with a focus on biofuels.
