Saied Pirasteh is a Professor of GeoAI and Associate Dean at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Shaoxing University, China. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Executive Committee of the UN-GGIM Academic Network, and Chair of ISPRS ICWG III/IVa. He also holds visiting and adjunct positions in Canada, China, and India. Saied also serves the Data Sharing, Zhejiang Province, Shaoxing City (DO Ltd.) as a senior consultant, appointed in 2024. Saied is also a Special-Appointed Professor with the Key Laboratory of Virtual Geographic Environment, Ministry of Education, Nanjing Normal University, China.
With over 26 years of international experience, Dr. Pirasteh specializes in geospatial data science, remote sensing, and disaster management. He has published 300+ papers, secured global grants, and supervised nearly 100 graduate students and postdocs. He is the co-founder of GeoIME and the GiT4NDM conference series. His leadership spans roles with UN Open GIS, IEEE, CIG, and ISPRS. Dr. Pirasteh has received numerous awards, including the 2022 Life Saving Solution of the Year. He actively contributes to global SDG strategies and serves as Editor for several international journals in geosciences and remote sensing.
He also received several certificates, including the Fundamental University Teaching Certificate, Certificate of University Teaching, Certificate of Computer Science, ESRI, and IEEE Training. Saeid served as the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing and Associate Editor (Guest) of IEEE JSTARS. He also served as the Editor of journals like Sensors, Remote Sensing, Natural Hazards Research, Geoenvironmental Disasters, Disaster Management, Drones and Autonomous Vehicles, Int. J. RS., and Int. J. Appl. Earth. Obser. Geoinfo and Editor-in-Chief of IJGRD.
