Remo Proietti Zaccaria profile

Prof. Remo Proietti Zaccaria

Professor at Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Italy

Dr. Remo Proietti Zaccaria leads the DELTA Lab (Disruptive Energy Lab for Trailblazing Advancements) At the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), driving cutting-edge research in energy manipulation at the micro- and nanoscale. In addition, he serves as Co-Director of the Keqiao International Park (KIP) in Shaoxing, China—a hub for technological innovation. His dual roles reflect a core belief: science and technology transcend borders, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across cultures and continents.

With a career spanning Asia, Europe, and beyond, Dr. Proietti Zaccaria embodies the philosophy of “building bridges”—connecting people, ideas, and disciplines to advance global research. Before joining IIT, he held prestigious positions at Osaka University (Japan) as a JSPS Fellow, Jilin University (China) as an Associate Professor, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a Full Professor (2016–2021). His research focuses on modeling (digital twin approaches) and experimental validation of micro/nanoscale systems, with applications in photonics, thermal dynamics, charge/mass diffusion, and mechanical deformation. His interdisciplinary work paves the way for next-generation micro-energy devices, including harvesting and storage technologies.

Beyond energy research, Dr. Proietti Zaccaria has been instrumental in expanding IIT’s space-oriented initiatives. As General Coordinator of the IIT-European Space Agency (ESA) collaboration and lead for the Italian Space Agency (ASI) projects, he spearheads efforts to adapt IIT’s innovations for space applications. This commitment has culminated in the establishment of SPAcEiit, reinforcing IIT’s role in the future of space technology.
